Brigid awoke in the woods near her house.
It wasn't the first time she'd done so, not here and not at home. Being so connected to the Earth meant that often she'd hike in the outdoors and sometimes rest herself against a tree and fall into a nap, or even full sleep.
This was, though, the first time she'd awakened at the sun's rise, naked as the day she was born, with no knowledge of how she'd gotten there.
"Right then. Somethin's more than a little off with ye, lass," she told herself even though there was no one around to hear her but the trees.
There was something else off, or maybe on was a better word for it. She felt rested, truly rested, for the first time in weeks. As she sat, then stood up and stretched, Brigid did a little self-inventory and smiled. Gone was the nagging fatigue, the fuzziness in her mind. Instead, there was a feeling of being able to take on anything that came her way.
She laughed and dashed for the water for a quick ocean swim as the sun cleared the horizon. She'd revel in the water a bit, change, then head in to the shop. Her fingers nearly itched to get to her clay, to see what it would tell her to create today.
Find Brigid either running/swimming naked near her house, or later at her shop bent over her wheel

Date: 2014-10-12 11:56 pm (UTC)"Not as well as yourself, it'd seem." He laughs and looks around, not spotting any towels or clothes. "What are ya up to out here, other than runnin' 'round naked as the day y'were born, that is?"

Date: 2014-10-13 12:06 am (UTC)It seemed the most logical explanation to her since she'd never lived so long in a city-type environment. On the family farm, she was never out of touch with the Earth for so long as she was here.

Date: 2014-10-13 06:08 pm (UTC)Davin frowns a bit, brows furrowed in concern as he tilts his head. He sort of wishes he had something to offer her for coverage, but she doesn't seem to mind. He finds himself glancing at her breasts, trying to see what the big deal it. They're pretty, he guesses. If you're into that.
Wow, he's being rude. He blinks and does his best to look back at her face without it being obvious that he was looking anywhere else.
"Is that normal for ya then?" Davin asks. "Wakin' up in the woods?"

Date: 2014-10-13 06:34 pm (UTC)"No," she laughed, then sent the water and salt from her body and hair with a few mumbled words in old Irish. "Wakin in m'bed or in the cot in m'studio's the normal, but if the Earth's what I needed, reckon m'body found a way fer it t'be so. I shouldn't be holdin ye up on yer run though. I am sorry to have disturbed ye. Would ye like a bit of water b'fore ye continue?"
She noticed where his eyes landed and since his eyes remained interested rather than lustful, which she'd have expected from a boy his age, she drew her own conclusions. Considering how she'd seen Liam attempt such when he'd been struggling, she thought she most likely had the right of it.

Date: 2014-10-13 06:43 pm (UTC)"Well, if you're sure it's okay, then I won't worry about ya." He shakes his head and shifts his weight from foot to foot, stretching a little. "I'm about done, so you're not keepin' me."
He's gotten over the shock of her nudity pretty quickly, but then he blinks and looks at her. "Unless you want me to get out o' your hair, 'course."
He watches the way that she manipulates water with obvious interest, ears straining to hear the old words whispered into the air.

Date: 2014-10-13 08:05 pm (UTC)"I think m'hair can stand ye in it," Brigid laughed and started walking towards her house. "Come on then. I can feed ye tea, if ye'd rather. And oatcakes if y'have a taste for 'em."
Once inside, she picked up the sundress she'd obviously discarded the night before and slipped it over her body. "I may not be much for cookin, but I can make m'mam's cakes well enough."

Date: 2014-10-14 12:07 am (UTC)"I'd be a fool to say no t'that." He follows her into the house and looks around interestedly, chuckling to himself as she pulls on her dress. He's sure a lot of guys in this town would kill to be in the position he just was.
He takes a seat at the table and spots a metal travel mug in the dish rack, grinning innocently up at her as he holds out his hand and makes the mug come soaring into it. "Maybe I will take that water, if the offer's still there."
Maybe they can have a magic-off.

Date: 2014-10-14 12:36 am (UTC)Brigid watched the mug travel the length of her kitchen and quirked a grin at him. "Handy, that. Ye'd come in handy in th'shop when I leave m'tools on the bench and don't bring them t'my wheel."
She went into the fridge for a bottle of water then looked at him over her shoulder. "Are ye able t'turn the kettle on for me?" she asked with a cheeky smile indicating the electric kettle on the counter.

Date: 2014-10-14 12:40 am (UTC)He lets go of the kettle because he doesn't need to be touching it after the initial spark, and then smiles up at her. With a small twitch of his nose, the metal lid of the kettle lifts along along with Davin's eyebrow.

Date: 2014-10-15 03:52 am (UTC)"Most of it, anyway." He laughs and sends a nudge to the hinges on the breadbox, opening it as she reaches for it.

Date: 2014-10-16 01:11 am (UTC)Brigid shot a look over her shoulder towards him. "Ye like a bit of showin off then, do ya?" she asked, smiling with it, though. She'd been young herself, and not so terribly long ago.
"I'm curious, though. Do ye find ye have t'recharge or somesuch after ye've used too much power, or is it like a well that never runs dry?"
no subject
Date: 2014-10-16 09:10 am (UTC)"I don't really do anythin' too big," he says after a moment. "It's sort of like flexin' a muscle, I guess. If I use it too much, it gets tired. Everyday stuff like this and doin' small jobs the garage don't tired me out any, but the other day I was doin' some work on an engine. I kept it lifted for a good chunk of the day and then had to go take myself a nap."
He looks up at her curiously. "What about you?"
no subject
Date: 2014-10-16 08:32 pm (UTC)"I don't normally use all that much. I mean, I speak t'the clay and glazes as I'm workin, but that's not s'much magic as it is suggestion and guidance t'what's already there. If I need t'move earth, air, or water, I can do it on m'own, but it's better, stronger, if I'm connected t'the earth itself."
She couldn't help wondering if that had anything to do with waking in the forest, but the thought was there and gone in a flash before she set down the cakes and jam. "Come on then. Eat up while the tea readies."

Date: 2014-10-17 10:11 pm (UTC)"Is that why sleepwalkin' in the woods is normal for ya?" Davin asks, unknowingly mirroring her thoughts. "Like you're rechargin' yer batteries?"
He grabs a cake and spreads probably too much jam across it as he looks up at her curiously. "I bet me gran would get a big kick outta talkin' to ya."
no subject
Date: 2014-10-18 01:11 pm (UTC)"I wouldn't say it's normal as I can't remember ever havin done it b'fore, but ye might be onto somethin with the battery recharge. I most certainly feel better'n I have in weeks. Maybe I'll have t'schedule time t'camp more often."
Brigid nibbles on a cake of her own. "I'd imagine we'd have a bit to chat about at that, and I'd be interested t'talk t'her as well."

Date: 2014-10-20 05:20 pm (UTC)"Maybe! But be safe out there, aye? An' maybe bring a change of clothes." He winks and reaches for another cake, wriggling happily at being fed. "I bet she'd like that. An' she knows way more than me. She pretty much only told me what I needed t'know, I bet. She has Skype, an' I can ask her t'give ya a call, if you'd like?"

Date: 2014-10-21 01:06 am (UTC)"Sometimes that's th'smarest way t'handle power newly recognized, I'd think," Brigid nodded, approving. "We're born with our gifts in m'family, and have full use of 'em from th'time we're old enough t'form th'words t'summon them. I would like t'speak with yer gran, though. Maybe we have some acquaintances in common, yer family and mine."

Date: 2014-10-22 05:25 am (UTC)He grins proudly and takes another long sip of her tea. Being around Brigid makes him feel like he's back in Ireland, and he thrives on it. "I'll set somethin' up."
